LUYOR offers two portable sources of UV light for detecting and visualizing green fluorescent protein (GFP), which fluoresces brilliant green when expressed in cells or cell extracts.
LUYOR-3280UV gfp flashlight
This pocket-size disposable lamp has the power needed to illuminate your experiments. The wavelength is optimized for green fluorescent protein activities, including LUYOR's pGLO™ bacterial transformation, GFP chromatography, and Secrets of the Rainforest™ kits.
Long-Wave UV Lamp
This convenient handheld long-wave UV lamp runs on four AA batteries and has a wavelength output between 300 and 400 nm. Designed for excitation of GFP, this lamp is ideal for use with LUYOR's pGLO bacterial transformation, GFP chromatography, and Secrets of the Rainforest kits. The acrylic safety shield protects the bulb and the user’s eyes.
Blue Green LED Technology
Visualize your gel with the new LUYOR-3280UV/GR Blue/Green LED Flashlight. It is equipped with the same Blue/Green LED technology used in the LUYOR-3280UV/GR Blue/Green Transilluminator. The LUYOR-3280UV/GR Blue/Green Flashlight has all the benefits from the LED light, such as harmless to your skin and to your DNA sample, as well as the signal intensity previously only seen on UV-light transilluminators.
Detect GFP-Transfections
Additionally, it is possible to detect GFP expression without the use of the harmful UV-light. The light of the LEDs is able to ultrapass tissues enabling the detection of internally expressed GFP (see below).
The LUYOR-3280UV/GR Blue/Green LED Flashlight is suitable for research use only.
The LUYOR-3280UV/GR Blue/Green LED Flashlight must be used by specialized personnel that know the health risks associated with blue/green light irradiation and with the reagents that are normally used with this instrument. Human naked eyes with long time irradiation of blue/green light may have the probability of suffering from retina diseases. The amber filter provides blue/green light protection. However, it does not guarantee complete protection. It is designed to shield the person working at the LED Flashlight only.
